Between January and June, the Da Nang Association of Charity and Children's Rights Protection spent about 13 billion VND on helping local poor people.

In detail, the focus locally was on building 15 houses for poor families, providing free medical check-ups and medicines for over 2,000 residents, and giving more than 200,000 free portions of rice soup (chao), rice, and milk to poor patients in the hospitals, as well as presenting 23 wheelchairs to disabled people.

These figures were released at yesterday’s meeting of the association which reviewed its performance over the past 6 months, and identified their tasks for the remaining months of the year.

Speaking at the event, the municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Vo Duy Khuong, praised the association for its efficient operations during the review period.  He also urged the association to continue to effectively implement the city’s key programmes, such as regularly providing scholarships to local disabled children, building more houses for poor people, and giving free chao to poor patients.

In addition, the city leader stressed the need for the association to appeal for donations to a relief fund which would help residents in areas which are prone to epidemic diseases and natural disasters, because such events often occur towards the end of each year.
