Over the past 2 years, the Da Nang Centre for Social Work Services has implemented 2 projects to help local disabled people at a cost of around 10 billion VND.  These were the “Support Network for People with Disabilities (PWD)” project funded by the East Meets West Foundation, and the “Model of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services and Socio-economic Support to PWD in Da Nang” project funded by the Vietnam Assistance for the Handicapped.

Top priority was given to providing personal support tools and implementing livelihood support programmes for local disabled people, as well as organising skills training courses for them and their parents.  Special focus was also put onto conducting surveys about the city’s PWD in order to update the data on the management software for the disabled.

During the period, 300 local disabled people have received learning tools and scholarships.  As many as 81 rehabilitation centres, with a total of over 300 volunteers, were established in the city.  In addition, equipment for functional rehabilitation was given to local medical centres.
