Two large forest fires yesterday occurred in Da Nang’s Lien Chieu and Hai Chau districts.

The first blaze occurred at the Nam Hai Van special use forest in Lien Chieu District at about 10am.  Five fire engines from the district’s Division of Fire Fighting and Prevention, and two others from the Military Petroleum Storage at the Hai Van Pass, arrived quickly.  Approximately 300 fire-fighters, and many other individuals, participated in the battle to take control of the fire which was completely extinguished within 2 hours.

Also at 10am on the same day, another fire destroyed a forest of acacia auriculiformis and eucalyptus at Truong Dinh Village, Hoa Lien Commune, Hoa Vang District.  Although local relevant agencies tried their best to tackle the fire, the blaze has not yet been controlled.  A vegetation fire lit by local residents near the forest is thought to have caused the incident.
