Sick fisherman rescued

After receiving an SOS message at around 9.00pm on Monday from the Khanh Hoa Province fishing boat KH 97689, the Zone II Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (Da Nang MRCC) immediately sent out rescue ship SAR 412 to help a sick crew member. 

According to the boat’s owner, 28-year-old fisherman Nguyen Van Duc was suffering from acute abdominal pains and vomiting blood whilst the vessel was fishing at latitude 14°31’N and longitude 113°56’E, in the waters between the Hoang Sa (Paracel) and Truong Sa (Spratly) archipelagos.

At 2:50pm on Tuesday, despite the harsh weather conditions with level 7 and 8 winds, the SAR 412 carrying doctors from the city’s Emergency Centre 115 reached the boat.  The sick fishermen was diagnosed with acute gastrointestinal bleeding.

At 2.00am today, the patient arrived safely at the Binh Dinh Province General Hospital for further treatment.
