Area codes of 59 Vietnamese localities to be changed from March

The area codes of almost all of the 63 cities and provinces of Viet Nam are slated to be changed in March, when a new decree issued by the Ministry of Information and Communications takes effect.

The northern provinces of Phu Tho, Vinh Phuc, Hoa Binh, and Ha Giang, will have their area codes unchanged as 210, 211, 218 and 219, respectively.

The area code of Ha Noi will be 24 instead of 4, and Ho Chi Minh City, 28 instead of 8.

The new code of Da Nang will be 236 instead of the current 511, while the respective numbers for Hai Phong in the north and Can Tho in the Mekong Delta will be 225 and 292, from the current 31 and 710.

The new area codes of other localities are as follows.

The decree will be in place as of March 1.
