Over recent days, information about the health of former Da Nang Party Committee Secretary and former Chairman of the municipal People’s Council Mr Nguyen Ba Thanh has drawn a great deal of attention from local residents.

After over 4 months of treatment for myelodysplastic syndrome at a private hospital in the USA, Mr Thanh was scheduled to fly back to Da Nang from the USA on Monday morning.  However, his flight was postponed due to bad weather in the USA.

The Oncology Department of the Da Nang General Hospital

On Tuesday afternoon, the Deputy Head of the Board for the Healthcare of High-ranking Government Officials, Mr Tran Van Minh, led a team of experts to examine preparations for Mr Thanh’s treatment in the Oncology Department of the Da Nang General Hospital.

Professor Pham Gia Khai, a board member, announced that a consultation about Mr Thanh’s current health situation would be held in the hospital tomorrow, 8 January.

The nation’s leading medical doctors and professors are being made available at the hospital to provide the best possible treatment for Mr Thanh.

The Director of the municipal Department of Health, Mr Pham Hung Chien, announced that advanced medical facilities at the Oncology Department have been made available to serve Mr Thanh’s treatment in the days ahead.  In addition, the number of security staff at the hospital has been increased beyond normal.
