Over recent days, a number of organisations in Da Nang have appealed for cash donations to buy gifts for local poor people to help them to enjoy a warm and happy Tet Festival.

Hundreds of millions of VND, along with numerous gifts, have been raised by the municipal Fatherland Front Committee from 4 local banks and 1 supermarket.  The organisation will continue its efforts to encourage more donations from local organisations and individuals in order to give Tet gifts to over 7,000 poor families.

A charity musical show entitled “Xuan Yeu Thuong” (The Spring of Love) will be held in the city on 6 February.  During the event, various fascinating singing and dancing performances, along with exchange activities, will be showcased and thousands of Tet gifts will be given to poor people.

The city’s Red Cross Association is now appealing for cash and material donations from local generous donors.  They aim to prepare 16,000 Tet gifts, worth 300,000 VND each, for local poor disabled people.

The Association of Agent Orange (AO) Victims has already sent hundreds of letters to individuals and organisations appealing for donations to help AO-affected victims celebrate Tet.

The city authorities have recently approved Tet allowances for social policy beneficiaries, the highest and lowest being 1.5 million VND and 200,000 VND/person respectively.
