On Friday afternoon, representatives from the Da Nang and Tangier authorities inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on establishing the bilateral friendship and cooperation relationships in Morocco’s capital city of Rabat.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Head of the NA Committee for External Relations Nguyen Van Giau, Da Nang Party Committee Secretary cum Head of the municipal National Assembly Members’ Group Truong Quang Nghia, and Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Tran Hong Ha.

The signing was made within the framework of Chairwoman of the National Assembly (NA) Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan’s official visit to Morocco from 28 March.

Under the MoU, the both cities will set up their friendship and cooperation relations on the basis of equality, mutual respect, and benefits, as well as in line with regulations in each nation, and in accordance with international treaties which the two countries join.

Besides, they will together boost their cooperation and exchange experience in such aspects as port management and development, and tourism promotion.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr Giau expressed his belief that the establishment of friendship and cooperation relations between Da Nang and Tangier would lay a good foundation for these localities to promote their experience exchange and fully tap their strengths and potential, thus fostering the Viet Nam-Morocco cooperation in the future.

Tangier is a large city on the northwestern side of Morocco, and on the western entrance to the Strait of Gibraltar. It is one of the most dynamic cities in the African country, particularly in the aspects of tourism and industry.
