According to the Da Nang Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the number of international tourist arrivals to the city hit an estimate of 58,525 over the Tet Festival, a 23.7% increase compared with the same period last year.  8,400 of them arrived in the city by air, a 62.6% increase compared with the same period last year.  This was attributed to the various cultural events which were held during Tet along with the sparkling scene in the night and the beauty of the diversified colourful flowers across the city.  In addition, foreign guests were deeply impressed by the friendly local residents and the warm welcome of local tourism sector’s leaders.

In 2014, Da Nang will attach importance to tapping into international tourism markets through promoting the opening of direct flights between Da Nang and Japan, South Korea, China, Thailand and other foreign countries.  This will help make Da Nang an attractive destination for visitors from home and abroad.

During the festival, the city has also received an estimated 121,000 domestic visitors, a 21.8% rise compared with the same period last year.  Some of popular local tourist attractions have seen a significant increase in the number of their visitors and high numbers have been recorded in the Ba Na Hills Resort, the Marble Mountains and the Son Tra Peninsula.  Local relevant agencies have made every effort to ensure local social order and security as well as to stop the harassment of tourists before, during and after Tet.
