In 2013, the Da Nang Department of Foreign Affairs successfully attracted 9 Japanese businesses to invest in the city, with a total investment of over 44 million USD.

Over the past year, the Department has focused on appealing for Official Development Assistance (ODA) capital for some of the city’s projects.  They include the 2 million USD Hoa Lien water supply plant, funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency, and a feasibility study on the low-carbon city model in Da Nang by the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

In addition, the Department has maintained cooperative relationships with foreign non-governmental organisations (INGOs).  As a result, Da Nang has received more than 182 billion VND from 102 INGO aid projects, an increase of 46 billion VND compared with the same period last year.

As for its cultural diplomacy during the year, the Department coordinated with local relevant agencies to successfully hold the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition, and 14 cultural diplomatic events in the city.
