Published: February 07, 2014

2013 saw remarkable achievements in the foreign affairs between Da Nang and international countries and organisations, especially Japan, the USA, Taiwan, South Korea, European and EWEC nations, and the other ASEAN members.  The city's images, and its great advantages and potential, received high appreciation from its foreign partners.

Last year also witnessed a significant increase in both the quality and quantity of FDI projects, and the city’s bilateral cooperative relations with foreign countries have been strengthened and expanded.

Over the last year, the local authorities have granted investment licences for 42 new FDI projects, with a total registered capital of 48.5 million USD.  These projects focus on priority aspects for the city's socio-economic development, namely services, tourism, and hi-tech industries.  In addition, 17 existing FDI projects have raised their investment capital by 246 million USD.

Many positive results came from appeals for Official Development Assistance (ODA) and aid from international non-governmental organisations (INGOs).  In particular, Da Nang has received 11 ODA projects worth around 697.81 million USD in total, and their capital disbursement hit 536.6 million USD.  The city also received 185.7 billion VND from 65 INGO aid projects.

In 2014, the focus will be on taking the initiative in publicising and promoting bilateral friendships and cooperation for local socio-economic development.  Special attention will be paid to appealing for more FDI in such aspects as hi-tech and IT industries, tourism and services.  Another emphasis will be on providing professional skills training courses for those involved in foreign affairs, as well as sending them to foreign countries to gain more experience.
