During his recent meeting with the Da Nang People's Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Phung Tan Viet, the Dutch Deputy Chief of Mission to Viet Nam, Mr Cas van der Horst, stressed the need to further promote their bilateral cooperation in such aspects as training and education, transportation, and water resource management in order to tap into their full potential.

Vice Chairman Viet spoke highly of the fruitful cooperation between the Netherlands and Da Nang in recent years.  He said that his city is now home to a number of Dutch businesses, including famous brand names such as Philips and KFC.  He added, however, that the number of Dutch-invested companies in the city is still lower than expected.

The city leader said that Da Nang was very keen on clean and environmentally-friendly industries which are the strengths of the Netherlands.  He asked the visiting guest to do his utmost to appeal to the Dutch government to support for Da Nang’s studies on climate change adaptation, including finding solutions for sea-level rises and coastal erosion, and for seaport systems development.

Vice Chairman Viet also took this opportunity to appeal to Dutch businesses to invest in the local hi-tech and dedicated IT parks.  He vowed that the local authorities would create the most favourable conditions for them to do their business effectively in the city.
