Published: August 10, 2015

As many as 100 entrepreneurs and representatives from enterprise associations nationwide attended a “Connectivity - Cooperation - Development” conference in Da Nang last weekend.

During the event, the participants were introduced to the city’s investment opportunities and given general information about the Trans-Pacific Partnership agreement and the process of integrating into the ASEAN Economic Community, and some economic contracts were signed.

The event gave Da Nang the opportunity to hear valuable opinions from other localities about the city’s investment climate and its future development orientations.  In addition, it was an effective way to advertise the image of the city to the nationwide business community.

The municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Vo Duy Khuong, remarked that top priority was being given to appealing for more nationwide businesses to invest in local support industries, and to propose many creative and suitable solutions to create a healthy and fair business environment for investors from both home and abroad.

The Chairman of the Viet Nam Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) Association, Mr Cao Sy Kiem, said that over recent years Da Nang has offered many effective solutions to help local businesses overcome their difficulties in the context of the nation’s economic downturn.  In particular, one focus was on implementing the “Year for Business 2014” programme and issuing many preferential policies about loans and land rent fees for local businesses.  This has helped the city to maintain its economic growth.

Ms Pham Chi Lan, an economics expert, said that the hosting of the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in October 2017 will present a good opportunity for the city to advertise its image to international friends.  Da Nang will play a vital role in connecting domestic and foreign businesses.

Within the framework of the event, some of the domestic businesses took the initiative to make contact with local relevant agencies to discuss their investments in the city.  As a result, some economic contracts have already been signed.

As of 30 June, 38 countries and territories worldwide have invested in Da Nang with a total registered capital of 3.45 billion USD.  They have created job opportunities for over 43,600 people who each earn an average monthly income of 155 USD.
