The Da Nang People’s Committee recently issued some adjustments to its master plan to develop a city-wide vehicle parking strategy towards 2020 with a vision towards 2030.

In detail, car parking space is now required to account for between 2% and 4% of the total land area of any new urban development.  The current parking space at existing developments will remain unchanged, but vacant land lots will be converted into car parks.

The existing 66,150m2 inter-provincial coach station in the districts of Cam Le and Lien Chieu on the northern side of the city, and another one covering an area of 63,000m2 in Hoa Vang District on the southern side of the city, will remain unchanged.

There will also be 5 new truck stops covering 46,752 m2 in total, and 6 stations for the local Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system with a total area of 48,220 m2.

In addition, 158 public car parks for vehicles will be created across the city with a total area of over 3.8 million m2.  Of these, 22 are in Hai Chau District, 14 in Thanh Khe District, 30 in Lien Chieu District, 24 in Son Tra District, 32 in Ngu Hanh Son District, 16 in Cam Le District and the remainder in Hoa Vang District.

These adjustments will help to perfect the city’s traffic system by fully tapping local favourable geographical positions, ensuring closer links between the inner-city and the suburbs, and upgrading the existing local arterial roads and building new ones.
