A seminar took place in Da Nang on Saturday to issue basic information about the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) Agreement to State management agencies and businesses in provinces from Quang Tri to Ninh Thuan.  The event was co-organised by the municipal People’s Committee (PC), and the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade.  In attendance were the Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade and Head of the Vietnamese TPP negotiation delegation, Mr Tran Quoc Khanh, and the municipal PC Vice Chairman, Mr Vo Duy Khuong.

Vice Chairman Khuong affirmed that the signing of the TPP agreement is expected to bring more challenges to Vietnamese businesses in general, and those from Da Nang in particular.  He stressed, therefore, the need for local businesses to be fully aware of both the opportunities and the challenges which will arise when the TPP agreement is signed.  The aim is to help them to prepare detailed strategies and plans suitable for their production and business activities in the context of the country's deepening integration into the world economy.

The TPP agreement is expected to be just one of several comprehensive and high-standard Free Trade Agreements, and a typical model of economic cooperation for the 21st century.
