In response to the Earth Hour 2014 initiative, the 6th Earth Hour programme will officially take place in Da Nang between 8.30 pm and 9.30 pm on 29 March.  During the one-hour period, local residents and organistions will be encouraged to save energy by turning off lights and unnecessary electrical equipment in their homes.

This year’s event has "Take actions for a greener earth" as its slogan.  Its purpose is to raise public awareness about energy consumption and climate change, while taking steps to conserve energy.

The programme’s organiser, the Da Nang Electricity Company, has basically completed preparation work for the event.  In particular, banners and images to advertise this year’s campaign have already been displayed at 900 locations across the city.

The city saved 19,800 kWh of electricity during Earth Hour in 2013.  This year, the city targets to save over 20,000 kWh of electricity.
