According to the latest statistics released by the Traffic Police Division of Da Nang Police Department, no road traffic accidents were reported in the city during the 3-day New Year holiday break from 1 - 3 January.

Over the same period last year, a total of 3 road traffic accidents had been recorded in the city, and these had resulted in 3 deaths and 2 injuries.

This year’s positive result has been attributed to the various effective measures taken by the local Traffic Police Division to ensure traffic safety over the period.

Their focus was on increasing patrols and checks at the venues where cultural and sporting events were taking place such as the Bien Dong (East Sea) Park in Son Tra District and the 29 March Square on 2 September street.  Importance was also attached to detecting, preventing and dealing with any extremist youngsters who might have been involved in disturbing public order or illegal motorbike racing.

Over the 3-day holiday break, a total of 189 road traffic violations were recorded in the city, 87 of which involved administrative fines totalling over 70 million VND.
