Da Nang - The EU's potential partner in semiconductor cooperation

Da Nang is a potential partner in the semiconductor technology for the EU, said Ambassador of the European Union (EU) to Viet Nam Julien Guerrier on Thursday

At a meeting with municipal People's Committee Vice Chairman Tran Chi Cuong, the EU official expressed his impression with Da Nang's impressive economic and infrastructure growth as well as its potential, advantages and policies to attract foreign investment. He, at the same time, informed about bright spots in the relationship between the EU and Viet Nam in recent years.

He emphasised that EU member countries showed their keen interest in seeking investment opportunities in Da Nang to expand their investment market. He hoped that many cooperation programmes with Da Nang in semiconductor industry will reap fruitful results in the near future.

Aside from technology, EU businesses want to cooperate with Da Nang in education and the training of high-quality human resources for hi-tech, tourism and hospitality industries.

Ambassador Julien Guerrier pledged to continue supporting Viet Nam in general, and Da Nang in particular, in an effort to contribute to making Viet Nam a prosperous and sustainable country.

For his part, Vice Chairman Cuong briefed his guest on the development orientations of Da Nang to 2030 with a vision to 2045 with the city's goal of becoming the growth nucleus of the key economic zone in Central Viet Nam.

He added that Da Nang has been focusing on developing a number of key spheres such as semiconductor chip technology, artificial intelligence (AI), seaports, services, and tourism.

He expressed his wish that many EU businesses will come to Da Nang to learn about the city’s investment environment as well as increase support for Da Nang in training high-quality human resources for semiconductor, tourism and hospitality industries.

Over the past years, Da Nang has established friendly and cooperative relations with many localities in EU member countries, including Wallonie-Bruxelles region (Belgium), Boras City (Sweden), Salo City and Turku City (Finland), Timisoara City (Romania), Varna City (Bulgaria) and Kosice City (Slovakia). Many cooperation programmes between the city and the abovementioned localities have been carried out effectively.
