Over recent years, Da Nang has welcomed many reputable businesses and corporations from both home and abroad to invest, manage, and operate high-end hotels and resorts in the city.

Included are AccorHotels Group (Novotel, Grand Mercure and Pullman), InterContinental Hotels Group (InterContinental and Crowne Plaza), Hyatt Hotels Corporation (Hyatt Regency), Marriott International (Sheraton, Sheraton Grand), Hilton (Hilton Danang), Vingroup (Vinpearl), Muong Thanh Corporation (Muong Thanh Hotel), and H&K Hospitality (Royal lotus and Bell Maison).

According to a report by local travel agents, over 90% of the total visitors to the city is currently using luxury tourism services, including hotels, resorts and seaside restaurants.

Mr Le Tan Thanh Tung, Deputy General Director of Vitours, stressed the necessity for local travel agents to enhance the quality of their services because most of visitors are willing to spend on high-end tourism services.

The General Director of the Minh Toan Trading and Service Company, Mr Nguyen Huu Thanh, remarked that recent years have seen a growing number of tourists who prefer to use luxury tourism services, and local hotels and resorts can earn great revenue from these guests. He added that one more 4-star Minh Toan Galaxy Hotel is underway in the city in order to meet the increasing demand of travellers.

According to the latest statistics released by the Department of Tourism, 4 and 5-star hotels earned 7,703.1 billion VND in revenue last year, accounting for 86% of the total of accommodation establishments in the city.

In addition, there has been a significant increase in the total investment poured into the building of 4 and 5-star hotels. The city is now home to over 100 rooms in the 5-star hotel segment, over 80 4-star hotel rooms, and around 50 3-star hotel rooms.

The Head of the municipal Tourism Department’s Accommodation Service Management Division, Ms Le Thi Ai Diep, remarked that in addition to improved infrastructure, the appearance of reputable domestic and foreign corporations has helped to enhance the quality of human resources for the hospitality sector.

These groups have been closely cooperating with vocational centres nationwide to train skilled human resources for the city.

Moreover, the Department of Tourism and the Hotel Association in the city have invited leading experts and managers from Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City to train employees in the hospitality sector.

As a result, the quality of services and the management capacity of 3 to 5-star accommodation establishments have been remarkably enhanced.

This year, over 774 four to five-star accommodation establishments with a total of 36,031 rooms are expected to put into operation in the city, an increase of 81 establishments and 7,251 rooms against 2017.

By 2020, the city is forecast to have over 920 accommodation establishments, providing 45,631 rooms in total.

Currently, a number of large-scale projects are underway in the city. Included are the Ariyana Beach Resort and Suites Danang with 68 villas and 1,400 apartments, JW Marriott Da Nang with 784 rooms, Hilton Bach Dang with 226 rooms, My Khe Duc Long Hotel with 150 rooms, Four Points by Sheraton Danang with 393 rooms, and the 2nd stage of the Danang Golden Bay Hotel with 1,500 rooms.

The significant growth in the luxury hotel segment is expected to increase the revenue of the tourism sector in the years ahead.
