Over recent years, Da Nang and Quang Nam Province have enjoyed numerous positive results from their tourism cooperation.

In particular, both localities have together attended domestic and international tourism fairs, and facilitated their tourism businesses to conduct surveys of tourist attractions in each locality in order to develop new tourism products.

Mr Tran Chi Cuong, Deputy Director of Da Nang’s Department of Tourism, affirmed “Thanks to their close bilateral cooperation, the localities’ tourism products have been better developed.  In addition to popular tours between Da Nang and Hoi An, My Son Sanctuary and the Cham Islands, more tours have been developed such as linking Da Nang with Quang Nam Province’s districts of Dong Giang, Tay Giang and Nam Giang.”

The two localities have also cooperated with Thua Thien Hue Province to implement the ‘Three Localities - One Destination’ programme in order to together develop a wide range of tours attracting even more domestic and international visitors.  Included are a heritage road tour route in the central region, a Ho Chi Minh trail, the East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC) route, and tours about cultural, ecological, sea and holiday tourism.

Chairman of the Da Nang Travel Association Cao Tri Dung stressed the need for both localities to together develop new and attractive tourism products, identify their common source of visitors, and jointly implement their tourism promotion activities, in order to increase the success of their cooperation.

Deputy Director Cuong highlighted the importance to the two localities of sharing their information and professional skills, as well as enhancing the efficiency of their state management activities in the tourism sector.  Special attention should be paid to working together to develop new tourism products, and jointly implementing such projects as dredging the Co Co River to develop river tours, and upgrading the Dac Oc border gate to bring more visitors from Thailand and Laos to Da Nang and Quang Nam Province.
