400 billion VND granted to the city to prepare for APEC

On Thursday, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc chaired a meeting in Ha Noi to check the preparations for the 25th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit which will take place in Da Nang in October 2017.

Attending the meeting were Chairman of the National Committee for APEC 2017 and Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, Minister-Head of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho, and leaders of relevant agencies.

On behalf of the central government’s leaders, Prime Minister Phuc praised the Da Nang authorities and the central relevant agencies for their efforts in preparing for this large-scale international event.

He asked the Da Nang leaders to do their utmost to prepare economically and effectively, with a focus on urban embellishment. 

He agreed to grant Da Nang 400 billion VND from the central budget in order to help the city implement some key infrastructure projects in preparation for the APEC summit.  These projects include the upgrading of some major streets and the Tien Son Sports Arena, and the development of the existing International Exhibition Fair Centre into an international media centre. 

He also urged the city authorities to take the initiative to allocate their local budget and appeal for public donations in order to deploy the above projects effectively.
