Da Nang offers positive help to victims of coach-truck collision near Hai Van Tunnel

On Thursday afternoon, Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh visited 17 victims seriously injured in a head-on collision between a coach and a container truck who are being treated in the Da Nang General Hospital.

Vice Chairman Chinh provided financial support worth 2 million VND for each of the victims from Da Nang government.

During his meeting with leaders of the Da Nang General Hospital, Vice Chairman Chinh asked the hospital to ensure full deployment of medical workforce and equipment for the treatment of these victims in order to help them recover faster from their injury.

It was reported that the head-on collision happened on the approach road leading to the Hai Van Tunnel from Da Nang to Thua Thien-Hue Province at around 0.30am on Thursday.

The crash involved a container truck, driven by 44-year-old Truong Minh Thin hailing from Quang Binh Province’s Le Thuy District, running on the approach road and a passenger coach travelling in the opposite direction. The coach was carrying 40 people at the time.

The tragedy left two women dead, thirty people injured and both vehicles badly damaged.

 Officers quickly arrived at the scene after receiving reports of the crash. The road was closed in both directions for several hours following the fatal crash to allow officers to examine the scene.

After shortly, the victims were rushed to the Da Nang General Hospital, the Lien Chieu District-based medical centre, and the Da Nang Transportation Hospital for treatment.

Most of the victims who are being treated in the Lien Chieu District-based medical centre, and the Da Nang Transportation Hospital only suffered minor injuries after

Leaders of the Lien Chieu District visited injured victims who were receiving medical treatment in the local medical centre and the Transportation Hospital, and provided financial support worth between one and three million VND for each of them. The amount they got would depend on how severe their injury is.

In addition, the district government offered financial aid worth 2 million VND to an ethnic minority child who is being cared for by the police officers in Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Hiep Bac Ward.

Meanwhile, the remaining victims who are receiving treatment in the Da Nang General Hospital suffered from multiple injuries after the crash. They are recovering in hospital in a stable condition.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
