After Da Nang beaches reopened on 18 September  following the successful containment of Covid-19 pandemic, the Management Board of Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches has taken many drastic actions to ensure the safety for beach-goers during the rainy season.

Deputy Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches Phan Minh Hai said beaches in Da Nang have seen low beach-goer numbers in recent weeks, and most of them are Da Nang citizens. However, the Management Board has carefully developed search and rescue plans in an effort to keep tourists and Da Nang residents safe while swimming at the beach.

Also, rescue teams have been established in the city, and they are equipped with such necessary items as portable loudspeakers, life jackets, life buoys and rescue whistles.

Lifeguards are on duty around the clock at beaches in order to advise swimmers to keep away from non-swimming areas, keep a watchful eye on their belongings on the beach, and ask beach-goers not to throw litter on the beach.

Mr Nguyen Duc Vu, Head of the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches, remarked 'bathing prohibited' signs have been placed within the radius of 200m or 600m - the most dangerous waters at sea - in order to ensure the safety of swimmers.

“Da Nang is naturally blessed with a beautiful long coastline. In the coming time, the city will pay more attention to the strengths and potential of its coastline to develop new tourism products, thereby satisfying the demands of tourists and increasing visitor numbers in the city. ” Mr Vu remarked.

In particular, projects on promoting community-based tourism at the Tho Quang - Man Thai beach in Son Tra District, and at Nam O Reef in Lien Chieu District, will be soon developed in the city.
