On Tuesday, the Da Nang Information and Communications hold a workshop in the city to present and discuss the results of consulting services for the conduct of feasibility study for developing Da Nang into a smart and sustainable development city.

During the event, representatives from the World Smart Sustainable Cities Organisation (WeGO) pointed out some difficulties facing the city in building a smart traffic management system.

In his remarks at the workshop, Mr Seugyong Lee, Director of the IGB Consulting Co Ltd - a consultancy unit of WeGO, said Da Nang has yet to collect sufficient traffic data due to the low number of smart surveillance cameras and the Internet of Things (IoT) in the city. In addition, the city is in need of setting up an integrated traffic management system.

Recently, a research team from WeGo has developed a TeraStream pilot system in Da Nang with the purpose of analysing data from sensors, cameras, and global positioning system (GPS) to enhance the efficiency of traffic light systems in the city. This is considered as a survey step for the construction of an integrated traffic management system in the locality.

Mr Jong Heon Yu, WeGO’s Administrative Director, remarked WeGO consultants would work with the Da Nang leaders to find the most suitable smart solution to traffic management in the city.

Every year, WeGO conducts a feasibility study on developing smart and sustainable development cities with the purpose of expanding WeGO members.

In particular, Da Nang’s traffic data analysis is one of 9 projects which have been selected by the WeGO Council to deploy this year.
