Da Nang’s Department of Information and Communications recently rejected the authenticity of a document that said a new bridge was going to be built in the city, saying it had been faked to create a real estate craze.

A photo capturing Decision No 738/UBND-XDCB signed and sealed by Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho on 31 October has been spreading fast on Facebook.

According to the so-called decision, the chairman had approved a plan to build a bridge connecting Bui Ta Han Street in Ngu Hanh Son District and the Hoa Xuan Eco Residential Park in Cam Le District.

“Da Nang’s Urban Management Division and the municipal People’s Committee Office confirm that the document is fake,” the communications department stated.

“The document is intended to create a property craze in Ngu Hanh Son and Cam Le districts.”

Authorities are investigating who is behind the fake news.

Da Nang is actually planning to build the bridge in question, however, nothing has been concluded as the Department of Construction is still drawing its plan for 2030 with a vision towards 2045.

The bridge would still need Prime Minister’s Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s approval.

The Hoa Xuan Eco Residential Park witnessed a real estate craze back in 2017 when the city built a bridge connecting Minh Mang Street with the area. Land prices immediately doubled following the construction of the bridge.
