Over the past five years, Da Nang has effectively implemented many practical and meaningful programmes assisting those who have given great service to the national revolution. These are considered as a move to promote the long-lasting national tradition of ‘when drinking water, think of its source’.

During that period, around 400 billion VND from the city’s budget has been spent on taking care of nearly 100,000 social policy beneficiaries every year.

In detail, over 25,000 social policy families in total have received regular support from the city authorities, whilst more than 11,000 worshippers of martyrs, who have no relatives, have enjoyed benefits from the State regulations.

In addition, 7,000 health insurance cards have been given to children of martyrs and war invalids, and 93,000 to those who have given great service to the national revolution.

21 people who have given great service to the national revolution, and 35,000 their children have received monthly allowances totalling billions of VND from the city budget.

Notably, Da Nang is a pioneer in exceeding its target of building houses for social policy families.

Between 2014 and 2018, the city helped a total of 7,407 social policy families build new houses or repair their downgraded ones.

In 2018 alone, a total of 79 billion VND from the city budget and other financial sources went to help 2,472 social policy families build new houses and repair their downgraded ones. In addition, the social policy families have received 32-inch TVs each.

Mr Thai Dinh Hoang, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, remarked all the meaningful activities were result of the fine national tradition of ‘when drinking water, think of its source’ which has deeply ingrained into the mind and consciousness of the district authorities and local residents.

He affirmed that the kind concern and great support from the authorities and locals really inspire social policy families to further uphold the national glorious revolutionary traditions and ardent patriotism, and to make greater dedication for the city’s growth.
