Speaking at a meeting on Tuesday with the district’s authorities, municipal Party Committee (PaC) Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri praised them for their great efforts in working with local relevant agencies to effectively implement urban planning and socio-economic development projects with the intention of developing Ngu Hanh Son into a tourism district in the future.

Deputy Secretary Tri suggested that the district authorities should take advantage of the popularity of the Marble Mountains - one of the city’s popular tourist attractions - to promote the local tourism sector.  Greater efforts should be made to appeal for more domestic and foreign investors for the vacant seaside land lots.

Mr Huynh Duc Tho, Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, said that special attention should be paid to revoking the investment licences of delayed projects in the district.  Greater efforts should be made to identify the district’s strengths to further the development of the local tourism, culture and education sectors, as well as to deal with the problem of environmental pollution at the Non Nuoc stone carving village.

Mr Le Trung Chinh, Chairman of the district’s People’s Council, asked the municipal authorities to assist with the upgrade of some commercial centres, supermarkets and entertainment areas, or the building of new ones in the years ahead to meet the increasing demands from residents and visitors.  Importance will be attached to accelerating the upgrade of Mai Dang Chon street, and extending Tran Hung Dao and Vo Chi Cong, as well as splitting the district’s Hoa Hai and Hoa Quy wards into 4 smaller wards.

Concluding the meeting, PaC Secretary Nguyen Xuan Anh asked the district’s authorities to continue upholding their outstanding achievements and remedy any shortcomings in their performance.  He encouraged them to appeal for more investors to promote the local eco- and countryside tourism, to establish specialised shopping areas, and to increase the scale of the annual Quan The Am (Avalokitecvara) Festival to attract more visitors to the district.
