During his reception last Friday for the Indonesian Ambassador to Viet Nam, Mr Ibnu Hadi, Da Nang People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho highlighted the bilateral fruitful cooperative relationship between Indonesia and Da Nang, and with Viet Nam as a whole.  He remarked, however, that the cooperative relationship has yet to fully tap its great advantages and potential.

The city leader hoped that the Indonesian diplomat would do his utmost to appeal for more investors from his country to invest in the city in such aspects as infrastructure, tourism, trade, education, hi-tech and information technology.  He vowed that the city authorities would create very favourable conditions for them to operate effectively in the city.

In reply, Ambassador Hadi expressed his good impressions of the city’s modern growth.  He also highly appreciated Viet Nam’s stable investment climate and the good opportunities for the operation of Indonesian businesses.  He underlined that Da Nang is emerging as an ideal destination for foreign investors, including those from his country.

On the same day, the Vice Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee, Mr Tran Van Mien, played host to the Dutch Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City, Mr Simon van der Burg.

The guest said that Da Nang and the Netherlands have many similarities in geographical position and seaports.  He stressed, therefore, the need for both parties to promote cooperation in such aspects as maritime infrastructure, waste water treatment, water resources management, power saving, and education.

The host said he would like the Netherlands government to continue giving more assistance to the city in training human resources, building Da Nang into a smart city, and sharing experiences in climate change mitigation.
