Accordingly, this pancake set a new record in the Viet Nam Guinness Book of Records for the biggest ‘banh xeo’ ever made in the country, breaking the record set in May 2018 with the bronze pancake making mold reaching 3.68m in diameter and weighing around 700 kilos.

The pancake weighed a total of 150kg, and could serve up to 200 diners.

According to the DNIFF’s organisers, the 5-day event attracted around 15,000 visitors in total, and more than 10,000 of which enjoyed a wide range of delicious dishes prepared by famous international chefs from the participating foreign countries, namely Germany, Mexico, Australia, India, China, Srilanka, Lebanon, Sweden, America, Turkey, Greece, Malaysia, and Singapore.

Mr Nguyen Xuan Binh, Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism, said, during the 5-day event, international chefs participated in some meaningful activities in the city. Included were going to the Con Market, visiting and cooking lunch for disabled children at the Care Centre for Disabled Children in Quang Nam Province’s Dien Ban Town, and making a giant pancake.

“These activities have helped to advertise the central region’s cuisine in particular, and honour the national culinary value in general, as well as to connect with international chefs, thereby ensuring the success for DNIFF 2019”, Mr Binh emphasised.
