On Sunday evening, the Da Nang International Food Festival 2019 (DNIFF 2019), themed ‘Taste of homeland’, opened at the park near the eastern end of the Rong (Dragon) Bridge in Son Tra District.

Jointly organised by the municipal Department of Tourism and the World Association of Chefs’ Societies (WORLDCHEFS), the event is being attended by famous international chefs from the participating foreign countries, namely Germany, Mexico, Australia, India, China, Srilanka, Lebanon, Sweden, America, Turkey, Greece, Malaysia and Singapore. They are the world-class chefs and the honoured members of the WORLDCHEFS, along with the head chefs at the top restaurants in their home countries.

During the 5-day event, locals and visitors will have the opportunity to see the international chefs showing off their cooking skills, as well as to enjoy delicious dishes imbued with the cultural identity of participating countries at 14 cuisine stands.

Every night, Mr Thomas Andreas Gugler, the President of WORLDCHEFS, will choose a typical chef from the participating countries to cook a typical dish at the ‘Big Dish’ area.

In his remarks at the opening ceremony of the DNIFF 2019, municipal People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Trung Chinh remarked Da Nang has been gradually affirming its position as ‘Asia’s Leading Festival and Events Destination’ and becoming a friendly, hospitable and unforgettable destination for both domestic and foreign visitors, over recent years.

“In addition to improving the infrastructure, the city has been focusing on developing accommodation and cuisine services to satisfy the growing demand of visitors. Therefore, DNIFF 2019 will be a good chance to advertise the cuisine of the city, and Viet Nam as a whole, to international friends”, Mr Chinh emphasised.

On the occasion, Vice Chairman Chinh received a badge from President of WORLDCHEFS Thomas Andreas Gugler.
