Since the middle of 2014, domestic fuel prices have decreased on 15 separate occasions, yet the prices of many goods and food items have remained unchanged in Da Nang.

Over recent days, the city has seen a 50% increase in the total volume of vegetables and fruit being transported to local markets against the summer months.  However, the retail prices of these items have remained unchanged or have even increased significantly.

Currently, local consumers are buying vegetables and fruit from traders at the Tuy Loan Market and Hoa Cuong Wholesale Market at prices which are much higher than those of the growers.

For example, between September and October last year, the price of tomatoes bought in the growing areas in Lam Dong Province was only from 2,000 VND – 3,000 VND per kg, and that of cabbage was between 700 VND and 1,000 VND.  However, their retail prices charged at the local markets was 10 times more.
