Touching encounter with the baby born during flight

DA NANG Today
Published: March 08, 2016

Further to yesterday’s story about the baby who was born on a Jetstar Pacific flight from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang on 4 March, the boy and his mother, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Nga, are now receiving post-natal care at the Da Nang Maternity and Paediatrics Hospital.

Yesterday morning, the chief stewardess on the flight, Mrs Tran Thi Hue, and Dr Fiona Julia Sutton, who had helped Nga to successfully deliver the baby on the flight, visited the mother and her son at the hospital.  Fiona, who works for the Paediatric Department at the Hammersmith Hospital in London, was travelling to Viet Nam for the first time with some friends.

At the hospital, the three women embraced when they met up again, and were all moved to tears of happiness.  Nga repeatedly thanked Fiona, whilst the doctor praised the young mother for being such a strong woman.

Before parting ways, Fiona gave Nga her email address so that they could keep in touch with news about the baby in the future.

In addition, Chief Stewardess Hue presented an aircraft model for the baby and said that she hoped he might one day become a pilot.

Nga and her baby are in good health and they will be discharged from hospital today (8 March).

According to a representative from Jetstar Pacific, the baby will enjoy 20 years of free air travel with the airline.

Here are some photos of the moving meeting.
