On Monday morning, the Secretary of the Da Nang Party Committee, Mr Tran Tho, made an inspection visit to the ring road on the southern side of the city in order to check work on repairing deteriorations.

Secretary Tho stressed the need to ensure that the quality of this ring road strictly meets international standards because the construction cost came from World Bank loans.  He urged the city’s relevant agencies to find effective solutions to ensure the highest quality of deterioration repairs, and to ensure that there will be no complaints from residents living near the road.

After the ring road was officially opened to traffic on 19 May, deep depressions appeared in the road’s surface, whilst manholes, lane dividers and concrete curbs had not yet met the technical requirements.

During his meeting in early June with the Department of Transportation, Secretary Tho had urged the project’s management board and construction units to sort out the problems quickly.  As a result, during June, 7 depressions covering a total area of about 3,600m2 were filled, 49 manholes were upgraded, a 1,800m-long lane divider was repaired, a 1,500m-long concrete kerb was replaced, and some drains on the ring road were unblocked.  The cost of the repairs is over one billion VND in total.
