Addressing the honouring ceremony, Chairman Tho affirmed that the authorities and people of Da Nang always acknowledged and appreciated the heroic sacrifice of revolutionary soldiers, including those from the Company No 2, for the liberation of Hoa Vang District, between 1961 and 1975.

The city chief hoped that war veterans from the unit would continue upholding their heroic tradition, and brightly shining characteristics of Uncle Ho's soldiers in their daily lives, to deserve as model citizens and model revolutionary families in an effort to make Da Nang even more civilised and prosperous city in the future.

Established on 18 July 1961, the Company No 2 operated in 11 communes and the Tuy Loan Town in the central Hoa Vang District.

During the 1961 – 1975 period, the unit’s soldiers took part in over 300 battles, killing more than 1,000 enemies, shooting down 6 aircrafts and 35 military vehicles, and destroying 14 strategic hamlets and enemy bases.

In early 1962, the Company No 2 killed, injuried and took around 70 enemies alive in the Nam Thanh Area in Hoa Phong Commune, which created favourable conditions for local revolutionary forces to fight against invaders.

In addition, the unit gained numerous victories in battles in Go Ca, La Bong, Duong Meo, Bo Ban, Co Man, Ham Xe and Binh Ky areas.

In spring of 1975, the Company attacked enemies stationed at the Hoa Cam Training Centre, the Police Bureau and the Hoa Tho Textiles and Garments Factory, contributing to the liberation of Hoa Vang District.
