6th session of municipal People's Council opens

The 6th session of the Da Nang People’s Council in its 9th tenure of the 2016 - 2021 term opened this morning, 5 December, at the Meeting Hall of its headquarters, 42 Bach Dang.

The session, which will run until Thursday, 7 December, is being broadcast live on Da Nang Radio and Television (DRT) channels.

During his opening speech, municipal People’s Council Vice Chairman Nguyen Nho Trung remarked that the 3-day session will focus on reviewing the city’s socio-economic performance, and its security and defence during this year, as well as identifying the main tasks for next year.

Vice Chairman Trung added that a total of 25 resolutions in local socio-economic affairs, security and defence and government building work will be adopted at the session.

In his remarks at this morning’s event, Municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia noted that the ongoing session is taking place in the wake of the recent successful APEC Economic Leaders’ Week 2017 which left deep impression on international friends about a hospitable, civilised and peaceful city.

Also this morning, there were also reports released by the municipal People’s Committee about the city’s budget estimates for this year, and the effective measures to use the budget economically next year. 

In addition, the participants were briefed on the 4th session of the 14th National Assembly (NA) by Da Nang’s NA members.  Focus was also on answers to questions raised by local voters at the 4th session of the municipal People’s Council. 

Furthermore, the participants heard specific reports released from the People’s Council’s boards of Economics and Budget, Cultural and Social Issues and Legislation, plus the city’s Fatherland Front Committee.

This afternoon, the People’s Council members will be divided into different groups to discuss the reports mentioned above. 

On 6 and 7 December, importance will be paid to conducting further discussions about major resolutions and the adoption of them.

The session will conclude on Thursday afternoon.
