The intention was to help them deal with the aftermath of typhoon Damrey which swept through Central Viet Nam early last month.

In detail, the provinces of Khanh Hoa and Quang Nam received 1.5 billion VND and 1 billion VND respectively, whist 500 million VND went to each of the provinces of Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai.

Apart from financial assistance for these localities, another 9.5 billion VND in aid from the Fund has already been given to natural disaster-hit northern localities since August.
