The review meeting was co-chaired by municipal Party Committee Secretary Truong Quang Nghia, Party Committee Deputy Secretary Vo Cong Tri, and People’s Committee Chairman Huynh Duc Tho.
Addressing the event, the municipal leaders attributed the effective joint coordination to the city’s great efforts in making good preparations for the premier international economic forum over the past nearly 3 years.

Top priority was given to enhancing local infrastructure system, refurbishing major streets, building the APEC Park, ensuring security and traffic safety, developing a large number of liaison officers and volunteers for the event, and fulfilling related tasks effectively.

Apart from having successfully organised important events within the APEC week, the city launched numerous practical activities in a bid to appeal for more investment inflows from both home and abroad.
Most notable amongst these activities were a contest to design and produce tourism souvenirs which were intentionally offered as gifts to the APEC week’s participants, and the 2017 Da Nang Investment Forum in mid-October during which the city authorities granted investment registration licences, investment research registration permits and related papers to 25 projects worth over 35,000 billion VND.

Furthermore, the 2017 APEC Voices of the Future (VOF) from 6-11 November which was a forum for youths from APEC’s 21 member economies took place successfully in the city.  Meanwhile, the APEC Leaders' Spouse Programme during which the guests visited some local popular places, and learned more about the lives of local residents, also left wonderful impressions on the participants about the beauty of the land and people of Da Nang.

Last, but not least, the municipal Department of Tourism-launched ‘Da Nang Smile’ campaign widely publicised the image of Da Nang as a civilised, friendly and hospitable destination.  Through this meaningful campaign, local residents from all walks of life were considered to be enthusiastic and friendly tourism ambassadors for their city.  Their smile indeed helped the city extend a warm welcome to visitors from both home and abroad, and hence, made a successful AELW.

Addressing the review meeting, Secretary Nghia highly applauded the municipal government, relevant local agencies, especially the city’s Department of Foreign Affairs, the city-based armed forces for effectively coordinating with the APEC 2017 National Committee to implement related tasks.

On behalf of the city leaders, the city Party chief also urged local inhabitants from all walks of life to grasp new opportunities arising from APEC week in order to make Da Nang more prosperous in the future years.

Also at the meeting, 51 units received Certificates of Merit from the municipal People’s Committee Chairman in recognition of their active involvement in the preparatory work for the APEC week.
