Viet Nam will host the 46th International Chemistry Olympiad on July 20-29, 2014 in Ha Noi with the participation of high school students from 70 countries and territories, according to Deputy Minister of Education and Training Tran Quang Quy.

Viet Nam is making preparations for the event following its successes at the 2007 International Maths Olympiad and 2009 International Physics Olympiad.

Earlier, PM Nguyen Tan Dung had approved Viet Nam’s hosting of the 2014 Chemistry Olympiad.

This is honor for Viet Nam to hold o­ne of the five premier international academic competitions.

Vietnamese students won two gold and two silver medals after first participating in the 1999 International Chemistry Olympiad.

They got two silver and two bronze medals in 2010, similar two silver and two bronze medals in 2011 and o­ne gold, two silver, and o­ne bronze medals in 2012.
