Bernard Werber, a French science fiction writer, joined in a literary exchange with readers in Da Nang on Wednesday.

The event was jointly organised by the Da Nang Union of Friendship Organisations, and the city branch of the Viet Nam - France Friendship Association, the French Institute in Da Nang, and the University of Foreign Language Studies under the University of Da Nang.

The exchange event brought students and readers in the city vivid perspectives on literature in general and the works of Bernard Werber in particular.

Writer Bernard Werber was born in 1961 in Toulouse in France, and has been writing since the 1990s.

With a total of 15 million books sold worldwide, Werber is one of the most famous contemporary French writers not only in France, but also around the world.

Among them, The Ants trilogy made Werber one of France's most popular science fiction writers in the 1990s.

In 1991 he published the novel Les Fourmis (Empire of the Ants), a complex fantasy novel in which ants were the heroes and humans the pesty antagonists. The novel became a cult hit across Europe, and Werber followed it with two other books in the same vein: Le Jour des Fourmis (Day of the Ants,1992) and La Révolution des Fourmis (Revolution of the Ants, 1995).
