Da Nang to host 20th Viet Nam Film Festival in 2017

At the closing ceremony of the 19th Viet Nam Film Festival in Ho Chi Minh City’s Hoa Binh Theatre last Saturday, the Da Nang People’s Committee Vice Chairman, Mr Dang Viet Dung, received a flag to represent Da Nang’s hosting of the next film festival in 2017.

This year’s festival received 125 cinematographic entries competing in such categories as feature, video, documentary, science and animation.

The movie ‘Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh’ (Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass) won the Golden Lotus Award in the Best Feature Film category.  The movie’s Vietnamese-American director Victor Vu was honoured with Best Director, whilst Nguyen K’Linh took the award for Best Cameraman.

In addition, Do Thuy Hang won the Best Actress award for her roles in the movies ‘Nhung Dua Con Cua Lang’ (Children of the Village) and ‘Cuoc Doi Cua Yen’ (Yen’s Life).  The award for Best Actor went to meritorious artist Trung Anh for his performance in ‘Nhung Dua Con Cua Lang’.
