On Tuesday, a composite-shell trip boat, built by Da Nang’s Bao Duy Shipyard, was launched at the Tho Quang Fishing Wharf in Son Tra District after 8 months of construction.

Named Merryland, the 3-decked, 19.25m-long and 8.3m-wide boat is the first of its kind to have been built in the city.  It has a catamaran hull and 2 engines of 87 CV each to ensure stability in the water, and it is intended to carry up to 144 passengers.

The design of the ship, which includes a restaurant and bar area, was approved by the Viet Nam Register (VR), whilst technical supervision was given by VR Office No 4.

After the launch, the ship will first undergo trials before providing river tours on the Han River.
