Last Friday, a contest to design and produce tourism souvenirs was launched in Da Nang.

The intention is to select the most beautiful designs for souvenirs to be offered as gifts to the participants of the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week in the city in November.  In addition, between 30 and 50 of the most outstanding entries will be selected to receive assistance from the local authorities to diversify their designs and meet the interests of customers.

The contest should also help to encourage the contestants to promote their creativity in designing handicrafts.  Opinions from relevant experts will be offered to help the contestants perfect their products. 

The designs are required to feature some amazing images of the city, which might include red-shanked douc langurs, popular attractions, historical sites and cultural heritages.  They must have high economic value and meet technical and aesthetic standards. 

The contest is open to all domestic businesses, along with Vietnamese residents, overseas Vietnamese, and ex-pats living and working anywhere in Viet Nam.

Contestants are required to send their entries to the Industrial Management Office of the municipal Department of Industry and Trade at 6 Tran Quy Cap in Hai Chau District (Tel: 0511 3898277) by 15 March.

The awards ceremony is expected to be held in May 2017.  The first prize is 50 million VND, with a second prize of 25 million VND and 2 third prizes of 15 million VND each.  In addition, there will be 10 consolation prizes of 8 million VND.
