Over the 2011 - 2015 period, the local tourism sector welcomed an increasing number of domestic and foreign visitors each year, showing an average annual growth rate of around 20.14%.

Over the first half of this year, the city welcomed 2.47 million visitors from both home and abroad, up 11.1% against the same period last year.  Thanks to this, the city's tourism sector earned an estimated 7,177 billion VND in revenue, an increase of 15.5% against last year.

To date, 76 tourism projects have been implemented in the city, with a total investment capital of 12.02 billion USD, and 17 of them have been developed by foreign investors.

In addition, the city is now home to 545 accommodation establishments with a total of around 20,465 rooms available.

Over recent years, a wide range of large-scale tourism events have been held in the city and they have helped to affirm the city's tourism brand name.  These events include the Da Nang International Fireworks Competition, the Da Nang Beach Tourism Season, and the Summer Rendezvous programme.

The city has also emerged as an attractive destination for international events and festivals.  Since the start of this year, Da Nang has hosted the Clipper Race fleet in February and the Beach-Leisure & MICE Travel Mart in June, and the ABG5 Beach Games (ABG5) will take place in the city from 24 September to 3 October.

Over recent years, a wide range of new tourism products and entertainment centres have been put into operation to meet the diversified demands of local residents and visitors.  Included are the Helio Centre entertainment complex, the Asia Park, the Nui Than Tai Hot Spring Park, and the Galina Danang Mudbath and Spa.

In addition, the city’s environmental sanitation has been ensured, whilst tourism promotion and advertisement activities have been implemented effectively.

Furthermore, there has been a significant increase in the number of foreign visitors because of the opening of new international flights into Da Nang over recent years.

Thanks to these positive results, the city has received high praise from numerous international tourism organisations, along with businesses and visitors from both home and abroad.  This has helped the city to affirm the local tourism brand name in its international markets.

In attempting to attract even more visitors to the city, Chairman of the municipal Travel Association Cao Tri Dung stressed the need for the city to develop detailed plans for building dedicated tourism attractions and shopping centres, creating more attractive tourism services near local hotels, and building more night-time entertainment areas for visitors.

Importance will be attached to promoting the brand names of local specialities, and developing more tourism products which are imbued with the local cultural identity.

Also, heed will be paid to ensuring effective investment into local tourism services, including beach tourism products, river tours, eco tours on the Son Tra Peninsula, and fascinating tourism products at the Ba Na Hills Resort.
