In the afternoon of the 6^th day of the 1^st lunar month, fishing boat DNa 90072 TS headed out to sea for its first offshore fishing trip of the new lunar year.

After only 6 days at sea, the boat has now returned to the Tho Quang fishing wharf.  It has brought back over 14 tonnes of fish, valued at around 500 million VND, and most of it is striped tuna.

Happy with the first catch of the year

The boat’s owner and captain, Mr Le Van Ninh from Lien Chieu District’s Hoa Minh Ward, said that this was the biggest-ever catch in his 20 years of offshore fishing.  After deducting 100 million VND for the trip’s expenses, he received 250 million VND and his crew members each received over 10 million VND.

 It is hoped that this bumper catch is a happy sign of more successful offshore fishing in the year ahead.
