According to the leader of Son Tra District administration, the opening of the mural painting street is in the direction of developing Son Tra District into a civilised urban centre, with a focus on tourism, trade and marine economy.

About 30 paintings simultaneously made their marks along many roads and alleys adjacent to the Lang Ong (Whale Temple) area, with a length of nearly 400m and an area of more than 1,200m2.

Created by the HAFA ART Construction and Fine Arts Co., Ltd., colourful mural paintings themed ‘The story of a fishing village’ vividly depict the cultural beauty, daily life and livelihood of residents along the Son Tra coast.

There are vivid images of pulling nets, rowing basket boats, fishermen heading out to the sea and children playing on the beach with fun, as well as marine species in the ocean such as octopus, scad and fish.

The purpose is to diversify the locality’s tourism products, bring community art into living space, preserve ancient sea villages, and implement a project on promoting community-based tourism at the Tho Quang - Man Thai beach.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Minh Hien, a tourist from the neighbouring province of Thua Thien Hue said that the set of photos brought her many beautiful emotions. “The images are meticulously drawn by artists according to the standard layout, suitable for the area of the walls, creating a vivid and beautiful scene. I like the picture of a woman holding two young children sitting on the side of the boat, looking out towards the ocean waiting for her husband, maybe an offshore fisherman or the scene of a man returning from a fishing trip with his knees bent and holding her child while carrying an oars on his shoulder”, said Hien.

In addition to becoming a check-in point for tourists, the aforementioned mural street also brings a fresh and joyful feeling to residents living here. Here, you can visit the statue of a whale arranged in front of the Whale Temple area, belonging to residential group No.12, Man Thai Ward. In order to protect the mural route, people are highly recommended to join hands with the Son Tra administration to preserve the green - clean - beautiful environment, hereby bringing a comfortable feeling to visitors.
