When the night falls and the city’s streets are about to light up, participants in night squid fishing tours begin to depart.

After getting on a fishing boat, visitors will be provided with fishing gears like fishing rods, racquets, and reflective plastic squid hooks. In addition, they will be given life jackets to ensure the safety.

According to Mr Le Lam who organises tours for squid fishing, the most ideal time for catching squid is between 6.00pm and 9.00pm daily. The Tho Quang Beach in Son Tra District is a popular place for fishing squid.

Mr Vu Van Hoang, a student from the Da Nang University of Education, said the way you approach catching squid differ from traditional fishing methods. Being quiet is important if you expect to catch fish. By contrast, you have to create a movement by jerking your rod in order to lure squid.

Most notably, visitors can enjoy fresh and delicious squid that they catch right on the boats. In addition, they can ask the boat owners to keep their caught squid in ice to bring it to the mainland.

Currently, there are many tours for squid fishing namely ‘Night squid fishing - Da Nang’, ‘Da Nang Fishing Tours’ and ‘Da Nang Going Fishing - CocoBeach Village’.

The prices of these tours are ranging between 300,000 VND and 500,000 VND per person, and between 2 million and 5 million VND per tour per group.

Staying on a fishing boat, catching squid, eating delicious dishes made from fresh squid, drinking beer, singing and enjoying the beauty of the city at night is absolutely a new and interesting experience for tourists.
