In addition to its beautiful mountains, romantic rivers, and amazing beaches with its clear blue waters and soft white sands, Da Nang boasts numerous best places to visit. Amongst them, the East Sea Park is emerging as one of not-to be-missed destinations in the seaside city for both domestic and foreign visitors.

The most special feature of the park is its favourable position. From the park, visitors can see the centre of the city to the west, the Hoang Sa (Paracel) Archipelago to the east, and the Avalokitecvara Buddha Statue standing at the Linh Ung Pagoda to the northeast.

One of the highlights of the park is the ‘Me Au Co’ (Mother Au Co) Statue which is carved by the famous Vietnamese painter and sculptor Le Cong Thanh.

The statue is made of white stone and it features two large busts which together enclose a large egg. The statue block is placed on a box-shaped pedestal that is tiled with 3mx3m black granite stones.

According to an article published on the Non Nuoc Magazine of the municipal Union of Literature and Arts Associations in June 2011, researcher Nguyen Dinh An revealed that the sculpture was made with stone from the Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village within 45 days.

Mr An added, at midnight on 30 June 2007, the white stone blocks were put into their right places as designed. At 7.30am on the following day, this art work was officially open to the public.

According to many domestic art critics, the Mother Au Co Statue showcases the condensation of ideas and the modernity of form, and it is specifically placed in harmony with the landscapes of the park.

In addition to the impressive stone statue, the East Sea Park is famous for its pigeon farming area.

Established in March 2009, the area is managed by Mr Le Minh Hai from the Management Board of the Son Tra Peninsula and Da Nang Tourism Beaches.

Thanks to his enthusiasm and dedication, the number of pigeons there has been so far increased from 400 to 1,200.

At present, the area is very attractive both locals and visitors who want to take nice photos in the city, especially couples who visit this site to shoot beautiful wedding photos.

Due to its favourable position and beautiful landscape, the East Sea Park has become a popular place where many events and festivals have been organised.

A bustling ambience has been seen at the park on summer days as various exciting beach sports activities have been held, such as jet skiing, motorboating, paragliding, kayaking and banana boat riding.

Thanks to these, the East Sea Park has become an inviting community entertainment space for both local residents and visitors.
