During the 2018-2019 period, the Centre for Social Work Services, under the management of the Da Nang Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, has been actively involved in making fundraising appeals to help disadvantaged children overcome difficulties.

To date, a large number of children, especially needy children, from cross the city have benefited from the Centre’s charity activities.

In particular, with the help of the Centre, the International Child Support non-governmental organisation, which has been licensed to operate in Viet Nam since early 1990s, has given financial aid totalling over 500 million VND to 100 families facing huge financial crises over the past 2 years.

Also, the World Vision organisation has given caring funding to 72 children in difficult circumstances through the Centre for Social Work Services.

Notably, the Centre has joined forces with students from the city-based University of Education to offer tutoring services to poor pupils facing studying difficulties.

Ms Truong Thi Nhu Hoa, Director of the Centre for Social Work Services, said her agency has focused on giving active support to teenage victims of abuse, exploitation and trafficking.

Special attention has been paid to helping poor single women overcome their difficulties during their pregnancy, and bring up their school-aged children as well, and providing alternative care for children living in special circumstances.
