The Da Nang authorities have given a nod to spend 1,447 billion VND (equivalent to around 61 million USD) from the city budget on improving drainage and wastewater treatment systems on the eastern side of Son Tra District from now until 2020.

Accordingly, the focus will be on building a system of sewers to collect wastewater and a part of rainwater in order to reduce the volume of rainwater being discharged to bathing areas in the dry season to protect the environment.

Wastewater collection and rainwater drainage systems will be constructed along a section of Hoang Sa between its intersection with Vu Ngoc Nha and Nguyen Huy Chuong, and a section of Vo Nguyen Giap between its intersection with Dong Kinh Nghia Thuc and Nguyen Huy Chuong.

The second stage upgrade of the Son Tra Wastewater Treatment Plant will be carried out. The Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR) will be applied in the wastewater treatment.

Importance will be attached to constructing a high strength reinforced concrete sewer to transfer wastewater and rainwater from Hoang Sa Street to the Son Tra Wastewater Treatment Station, and a pumping station at the station.

Heed will be paid to repairing mixing valves at existing 6 sluicing gates of the coastal drainage systems on Hoang Sa and Vo Nguyen Giap in order to completely prevent seawater and sand there from flowing back to the systems.
