Da Nang’s Son Tra District Police on Sunday arrested Le Xuan Tam and Do Phuong Thach, both residing in Quang Nam Province’s Tien Phuoc District, who have been accused of “property robbery by snatching”.

At around 8.45pm on 27 August, Ms Mylint Aung, 39, and her husband who is a Myanmar national, were strolling near the intersection of Vo Nguyen Giap and Vuong Thua Vu streets in Son Tra District’s Phuoc My Ward when 2 young men, riding a motorcycle, suddenly snatched her bag and drove away.

The bag contains an iPhone5 and some other important papers. The couple, in a prompt fashion, reported the incident to the district’s police officers.

On 28 August, Tam and some addicts were caught red-handed by police officers from the districts of Son Tra and Cam Le when they were using illegally drugs in a hostel located on Cach Mang Thang Tam Street. In particular, the police detected and seized an iPhone5 which is similar to Ms Aung’s.

According to Tam’s confession, it is the iPhone5 that he and his accomplices snatched from the visitors. The offender also admitted to having colluded with Thach and other persons to carry out 5 property robbery cases in Son Tra District in August for personal spending.

The case is still under investigation by the Son Tra District police.
